摘要:attachmentofmultiplechelatedgd3+ionstotheinteriorofbacteriophagep22viralcapsidsaffordsnanoscalemricontrastagentswithextremelyhighrelaxivityvalues.highlyfenestrated“wiffleball”morphologyisuniquetop22andassureswaterexchangebetweentheenvironmentandinteriorcavityofthecapsid.thecavityofp22“wiffleball”wasfunctionalizedwithabranchedoligomercomprisingmultipledtpa–gdcomplexesresultinginanimpressivepayloadof1,900gd3+ionsinsideeach64nmcapsid.highrelaxivitiesofr1,ionic=21.7mm–1s–1andr1,particle=41,300mm–1s–1at298k,0.65t(28mhz)arereported,withr1/r2ratioof0.80andoptimizedrotationalcorrelationtimeforthissystem.specificdesignmodificationsaresuggestedforfutureimprovementsofviralcapsid-basedmricontrastagentsdirectedtowardclinicaltranslation.
